Question

I am a grad student, and my school gave me a 1098T. My box 5 scholarship is $1K dollars lower than box 1. Is it necessary to include the form when I file my taxes?

Yes, you should enter your 1098-T even though you are a graduate student.

You could still be eligible for a Lifetime Learning Credit up to $2,000, even if you don't qualify for the American Opportunity Credit.

Don't forget to add your Books and Other Required Education Expenses.
