I am a student trying to do my taxes, when i put my 1098-T in it lowered my amount. Does anyone know why it's doing that?

If your scholarships, grants, fellowship money is greater than your tuition and education expenses, the difference is taxable scholarship.

  • You'd have to pay income taxes on the taxable portion of your scholarship and it would reduce your refund.
