I go to college in Missouri and have to file there as well. TurboTax wants to give me a credit for tuition paid on my colorado nonresident return even though I go to school in Missouri but technicially took one class in CO. Can I claim that credit in Colorado and Missouri to help reduce taxable income in both?

Yes, you can allocate income and educational expenses in Colorado and Missouri.

  1. Log into Turbo Tax
  2. When you complete your federal return including entering your educational expenses, select state to begin preparing your state returns.
  3. Start on your Colorado non-resident return first.
  4. As you start answering and scrolling through the screens, you will be given an opportunity to allocate Colorado income, deductions and credits. Here you will be given the opportunity to allocate your educational expense also.
  5. After this is done, then start your Missouri resident return and finish that out.
