Question

I do NOT have the Lifetime Learning Credit but it says that I have it and must pay to file. How can I fix this?

I'm not sure if it is a glitch or if I am confused but it specifically says I am NOT qualified for Lifetime Learning at that step of the process.

I suggest you look on line 3 of schedule 3 of your form 1040. That is where the education credit would appear if you had one. If you have an education credit, it may be to your advantage to pay the TurboTax fee if it is less than the credit.

If you don't have a credit, you can delete the Form 8863 Education Credits and that may resolve your issue.

Follow these instructions:

1. Choose the Tax Tools option on your left menu bar

2. Choose Tools

3. Choose the Delete a form option under Other Helpful links

4. Find Form 8863 in the list of forms and use the delete option to remove it
