If you've already filed your tax return and it was accepted by the IRS, you may need to amend your income tax return.

  • Amend your tax return if the new tuition amount affects your bottom line (refund or amount due).

 

Don't amend if:

  • Your e-filed return is rejected. Just make your changes and then resubmit or mail your return.
  • Your e-filed return is still pending. Wait until the return is accepted before amending. If rejected, just make your changes and then resubmit or mail your return.
