I failed to add 1098-E to return

I already e-filed and received a 1098-E for student loans. I forgot about this form. The amount of interest in box 1 is pretty significant. Should I be amending my return? Or how do I even do that?

If you had a tax liability (an amount above 0 on line 24 of form 1040), then yes, you should file an amended return.  The additional income deduction (technically an adjustment to income) will result in a lower total tax and more money back for you.

You have to wait until your original tax return is fully processed (usually when you get your refund) before you can file an amended tax return.

It is too soon to amend a 2024 tax return.   You have to wait until it has been fully processed by the IRS.  Sometimes the IRS catches and corrects mistakes you made.   And the Form 1040X you will need is not available until mid-February.  Amending too soon can cause confusion and long delays.
