Question

I got a 1098-T form from school but I also got a stipend that wasn't included in the 1098-T. Do I include the stipend under miscellaneous income or another section?

No, don't enter it under Miscellaneous income. As you enter your Form 1098-T , you'll enter your stipend in the Education section under Deductions Credits.

@HelenC12 Thank you! I put the stipend under "other scholarships/grants/fellowships" as you mentioned. It asked me how much of this stipend was used for noneducation purposes like housing. This stipend isn't for educational purposes so that is why I thought I should put it under "other income". It is a "scholarship/fellowship/grant" so I understand why I would put it in that section, but it is not necessarily for educational purposes like the TurboTax software mentions. Should I still put the stipend under the scholarship section as you mentioned even though it is meant to be used for other purposes? I don't know if this changes anything or not. Thanks again!
