Question

I have a 1098-T that is exempt (never provided to me or the IRS). My university was paid for tuition via a tuition waiver. Do I report this as amount paid to university?

Also  - do I report qualified tuition waiver as a scholarship? I read that it is not taxable?

No, you do not need to report the tuition waiver, it is tax-free.

No, it does not need to be reported on your tax return.  There is no deduction available unless you paid for the tuition.  @mrae90
