Question

I have a 1098 that shows up (because it came over from last year) and I can't find a way to enter the figures myself. How do I fill in the info?

If you received a 1098-T for 2021, you would need to Amend your 2021 return to enter it.

Before doing that, see if the Tuition in Box 1 is greater than the Scholarships in Box 5.  If it is not, you won't qualify for an Education Credit and you could just save it with your tax records.  However, if Box 5 is larger than Box 1, you may have taxable Scholarship Income to report and should amend your return.

Here's steps for How to Amend a Prior Year Federal Return.

If the 1098-T is for tax year 2022, here's How to Enter a 1098-T in your 2022 return.   If you have already filed your 2022 return, wait until you receive your refund to Amend your 2022 return
