I have a Felony Drug conviction from 2012, am i disqualified from the American opportunity tax credit?

Correct, that would disqualify you for the American Opportunity Tax Credit, however you might be eligible for the Lifetime Learning credit. 

 

According to the IRS:

"As of the end of 2021, the student had not been convicted of a federal or state felony for possessing or distributing a controlled substance."

Yes, you could be a convicted murderer and still qualify but a felony drug conviction will disqualify you for life.  Thank your congress members.
