I have received inheritance money from a relative abroad who is a not a citizen of the U.S....around $33,000. I am a citizen. Is this taxed by the U.S. government?

Inheritance money is not taxable in the US. You do not need to report this inheritance on your tax return.

 

However any income derived from this money such as interest is taxable and has to be reported.
