I'm 25, full-time college student working on B.S., unemployed and living at home. I have form 1098-T for grants. Should I file my own tax or be claimed as a dependent?

I am a 25 years old, full-time college student working on B.S. degree, unemployed, and living full-time at home with my mother.  I have form 1098-T for grants.  I received "Lifetime Learning Credit" and "Tuition and Fee Deduction" in the TurboTax that I plan to file.  However, I would receive $0 in Federal Refund. Should I file my own tax and receive no refund or should I be claimed as a dependent on my mother's TurboTax?

If you had less than $4050 of income, your mother can claim you.  In this way, she can claim your exemptions as well as any amount of Lifetime Learning Credit.  If you lived with her and she has no other dependents, she might also be able to claim Head of Household status as well.  This would be a better result than if you file an independent return, when you sound like you qualify as her dependent anyways.
