I'm a college student attending another WA for school and worked there and made less than 12,000 do I need to file in my state of residence.

Yes. All your income is taxable by your residence state, even the income earned out of state.  If you were also subject to income tax by the wok location state, your residence state will give you a credit, or partial credit, for that on your resident state return.

Probably.  It depends on which state you live in and the filing threshold, however at $12,000, if you are a dependent most states would require a return.  Any income earned in any state or any where in the world is taxable to the state you live in.
