Question

I'm a FT student. My parents claimed me (and my 1098T) on their return. I still have to report Room/Board Grants. How and where do I do that?

I understand Room/Board Grants are considered INCOME, and I earned $1600 /- during a short part-time summer job.  So, now I have to include R/B Grants as income.  Where and how do I do this on my TurboTax return??  Thanks!

Despite the fact that your parents are using the 1098-T form on their return, you can enter it in TurboTax (TT) to prepare your own return. At some point in the education interview, you will be asked how much of the scholarship was used for room and board.  TT treats the amount you enter there as taxable.
