Question

I need to produce a notarized tax filing intention statement to my university to receive resident status/tuition in Iowa. How do I do this?

I need a statement saying I will be claiming myself on my 2021 taxes, which I will. I can get this statement notarized at a bank but I don’t know where or how to get the statement in the first place.

Type this statement up yourself, print it out and take it to a bank or notary to get it notarized.

 

The statement only needs to say what you wrote above, i.e.:

 

To "University Registrar or Financial Aid Office":

 

I, "Name", will be claiming myself on my 2021 tax return. I will not be claimed as a dependent on anyone else's tax return."

 

"Signature and Date"

 

Don't sign until you get to the notary. If you are still uncertain about what needs to be said, contact your university.
