Question

I pay $400 a month on student loans, but my school (I'm a teacher) reimburses me. I assume I can't claim that on college expenses?

The interest on student loans can be claimed, but not if the payments are re-imbursed by your employer (unless also included as income on your W-2)

If under 5,250, the payments to you from your employer may have been made tax-free to you in which case, no the payments and/or interest you paid could not be claimed by you.
