Please see these instructions on how to enter your 1098T:

  1. Open or continue your return, if you're not already in it.
  2. Search for 1098T and select the Jump to link at the top of the search results.
  3. Select Yes on the Do you want to enter your higher education expenses? screen.
  4. On the Your Education Expenses Summary screen, select Add A Student.
  5. Select the name of your student (this could be you, your spouse, or a dependent) and Continue.
  6. Answer some questions about the student and then you'll reach the Did [student] get a 1098-T from [school] for 2019? screen. Select Yes and Continue.
  7. Enter the information from your 1098-T on the next screen. When you're finished, select Continue.

If you had something else in mind, feel free to provide extra detail and we'll be happy to assist

If I understand correctly you filed your tax return but would like to include your brothers 1098T for college on your tax return?

First, were you able to claim your brother as a dependent on your tax return? Please see Who can I claim as my dependent? fo additional information.

You can only include the 1098T of yourself and dependents on your tax return.

If you are able to claim your brother as a dependent and therefore are allowed to include his 1098-T on your tax return then you will have to file an amended return (1040X) to make changes to your return if your return has been accepted by the IRS. But you might want to wait until your refund or payment is processed. The IRS will only accept amended returns via mail.

The 1040X form for 2019 hasn't been approved yet by IRS. Please, keep checking the following information below on how to amend your return; it will be updated once the 2019 form is released. Currently, the form is scheduled to be released on 02/20/2020.
