If your parents are claiming you as a dependent they should report the 1098-T form on their return even if you paid the tuition.

 

To report form 1098-T:

  1. Log in to your account.
  2. Go to Federal Taxes.
  3. Go to Deductions and Credits.
  4. Scroll down to Education and click show more.
  5. Go to Expenses and Scholarships (Form 1098-T) and click revisit.
