Question

If I co-signed for a personal student loan for my son and I have been making the payments on the loan I'm wondering if I can claim the interest I've paid?

Simple answer: Yes.

You can deduct it because you made the payment and are legally obligated to pay it (co-signed).  One additional requirement is that he was your dependent at the time the loan money was used to pay for his education.
