Question

If I have a 1099 Q form from my 529 plan do I enter that on my taxes or my son's. Do I enter the 1098 - T on my taxes?

The person who receives the funds (whose SSN is on the 1099-Q) has to report the Form 1099-Q on their tax return.  If the money went straight to the school, it is treated as going to the student.  If the student is your dependent, you as the parent should report on your return.  If you also receive a Form 1098-T, you need to enter on your taxes if you claim your son on your return.  Otherwise, he might need to report on his own tax return.
