If I paid late 2022 income in 2023 can I deduct that?

it was from unemployment that I didn't know that income tax wasn't being taken out.

No.  Federal tax that you paid for 2022 is not deductible on your 2023 federal return.

 

There is a handful of states in which you can enter federal tax paid last year:

Alabama, Iowa, Missouri, Montana, and Oregon.  If you are filing in one of these states watch for the deduction when you prepare your state return.
