Question

If my employer has tuition reimbursement program, and I received a 1098 T, do I still enter that information into my return as a Massachusetts resident?

Yes, you will still need to enter that information under the Education section. Here are the steps:

In TurboTax online,

  • Sign in to your account, select Pick up where you left off
  • At the right upper corner, in the search box, type in "1098t" and Enter
  • Select Jump to 1098t
  • On the screen, Now Let's gather XYZ's Additional Education Expenses
  • Follow prompts
  • On-screen, Scholarships and Financial Aid, select Continue
  • Next screen, Did student Receive a Scholarship or Grant in 2019?  select Yes and enter info under Employer-Provided Assistance
  • Follow prompts
  • Next screen, Your Education Expenses Summary, select Edit
  • Next screen Here's Your Education Summary, under Tuition, select Edit to enter tuition information

If this is a state-related, to verify the entries,

  • To your left, select State
  • Next screen, select Massachuttes and Start
  • Follow prompts to reach the education-related questions
