Question

In order to claim for dependents and education fees paid for my son, the system requires a SSN which we have never applied for. What should I do?

You cannot claim a dependent unless they have a Social Security number or an ITIN.  Why have you not applied?

Because I'm on a L1 Visa, my husband and daughter is on L2 visa's.  My son is here on an international student visa.  When I asked this question before, I was told my daughter and son was not eligible applying for SSN's.  I can have them apply now, but it's just going to delay my filing of my tax return.
