Is it true that the student loan payment pause and collections hold on department of education taking tax refunds extended -May 2022?

I read from multiple sources that the IRS is NOT taking refunds for student loans until MAY 2022. Does anyone have further info ?

The extension is to May 1 subject to any last minute change.

Yes, the U.S. Department of Education announced a 90-day extension of the pause on student loan repayment, interest, and collections through May 1, 2022. 

 

Consequently, the IRS will not offset refunds for student debts until that date.
