She already graduated the university, holding a bachelor's degree but entered nursing school. She is taking an accelerated course, and she will be given a Bachelor of Science in Nursing after graduation.

Q. Is my spouse's tuition for nursing school qualify for tax breaks for undergraduate college tuition?

A. No.

Since she already has a bachelor's degree, she is considered to have already "completed 4 years of post secondary education" and  is not eligible for the more generous American Opportunity Credit  (the tax break for undergraduate college tuition).

She is eligible for the Lifetime Learning Credit (LLC) which is 20% of tuition up to $10K.  The LLC is non refundable (it can only be used to reduce an actual tax liability).
