Lifetime Learning Credit

Is a 1098-T required for the Lifetime Learning Credit?  I'm taking a certification course at the local University--I assume that would qualify, but I haven't received a 1098-T.  Also, are fees paid for the certification test considered eligible educational expenses?  Thanks!

To be eligible to claim the AOTC or LLC, the law requires a taxpayer (or a dependent) to have received Form 1098-T, Tuition StatementPDF, from an eligible educationalinstitution, whether domestic or foreign.

There are some conditions under which that form may not be issued. Check with your school. That form is often available in your online school account.

The certification test cost is not a qualified education expense.
