Question

My 1098 lists all money i paid in Box 1 which included the tuition and instrument fees. Should i still list instrument fee in education expense separately?

Education expenses section lists the tuition as all the amount listed in Box 1 of form 1098.

Q. Should i still list instrument fee in education expense separately?

A. No.  A break down is not needed.  TurboTax (TT) will treat the total expenses in box 1 as "qualified". Only separately enter expenses not already included in box 1; e.g. books.
