My 1098-T box 6 has $1,000 entered, what does this mean?

An entry in box 6 on form 1098-T means your scholarship income reported in a prior year was incorrect. You need to find out what year was reported wrong and look on your form 1098-T entry in that year so see if the new amount will affect your tax.

A good way to do this would be to prepare an amended return for the previous year in TurboTax. If you find you have a tax due or additional refund you should submit the amended return, otherwise you can leave it alone.

You will see an option to prepare an amended return on your Tax Home page in TurboTax, and then under Your tax returns and documents.
