Question

My college student has a 1098-T form. Do I file on my taxes since she is a dependent or does she file it because she has income>

Yes, you will need to file your student's 1098-t on your return since you are claiming her as a dependent and for you to file the Education Credit for the qualified education expenses paid.

If she has more scholarship income on the 1098-T box 5 than box 1 Tuition and qualified education expenses, then the excess will be taxable to her on her income tax return.
