Question

My hubby started nursing school and we got a student loan to pay for it. We will pay it back later. I got a tax form from the school showing tuition paid. Do I claim it?

Yes! Tuition (and other expenses, like Books) paid with loan funds counts as 'out of pocket' expenses you paid.

If you received a 1098-T from the school, you can enter it in TurboTax.  If there is an amount in Box 5 for Scholarships/Grants, this will be subtracted from expenses to calculate the amount eligible for an education credit.
