Question

My parents pay for my college expenses, but the 1098-T is under my name. Should I report it in my tax return? Or do they report it in theirs?

If you are a dependent of your parents, then only your parents can claim education credits and the form 1098-T is entered on their tax return.

If you cannot be claimed as a dependent, then you claim your education credits and report the 1098-T on your tax return.
