Question

My school is not issuing me a 1098-t, but I had enough scholarships to get a school refund check. What do I do to claim this?

The school told me I'm not eligible for a 1098-t because my tuition was paid for with scholarships plus some, however I recieved a scholarship refund from the school and I have read that that money is taxable. I am unsure of how to claim this money now on turbo tax. Please help.

Scholarships are taxable when the amount awarded is in excess of qualified education expenses. You'll enter the taxable portion of your scholarship in the Education section in Deductions & Credits.

  • Type scholarships in the search bar and click on the Jump to link to quickly get to that section of TurboTax.
