If your son is a dependent on your tax return, you should normally file the 1098-T form on your tax return to see if you get a tax credit for it. However, if the form shows more scholarship income than education expenses, your son should file it as he may have taxable income.
You use the following tabs in TurboTax to report the form 1098-T:
Federal
Deductions and Credits
Education
Expenses and Scholarship (Form 1098-T)
