Why is turbo tax asking for my 1098-E information. My loan has been paid off for several years.

It's possible that your 1098-E information transferred over from your prior year tax return. If this is coming up as an error, or you can't file your return because of this, you can delete the Student Loan Interest Deduction Worksheet  in your return.

  • Go to My Account at the top of your screen. From the drop-down, choose Tools (see screenshot).
  • In the Tools Center, choose Delete A Form (see screenshot).
  • In Review Form List, find the Student Loan Interest Deduction Wks and choose Delete .
  • On the screen Delete Selected Form, select Delete. After the screen Form Successfully Deleted, go back to the forms list, and verify that the form has been deleted. Check your tax return to verify that the result is correct.
