Question

My student loans were deferred in 2019 because I started my graduate program. I didn't obtain a 1098-E. what information do I input for the interest paid?

If your loans were deferred in 2019 and you did not make any payments, then there would be no student loan interest to report. 

 

If you made some payments during the year, but still did not receive a Form 1098-E, then check with your loan servicing company to find out if a Form 1098-E was issued for the year.  You may be able to obtain a copy online.
