My two daughters, 8 and 10, attended summer camp last year. Can I deduct this expense and if yes, where do I enter the expense?

Yes, your daughters' summer camp expenses qualify as child care expenses.

In TurboTax, you can enter Medical expenses by following these steps:

  • Click on Federal Taxes
  • Click on Deductions & Credits
  • Under All Tax breaks, locate the section You and Your family and click on Show more
  • Click Start next to Child and Dependent care credit (see attached screenshot).

The expenses qualify if the camp was a day camp.  Expenses for overnight camps are not allowed.
