My university job covered most of my tuition, but some was taxed. my 1098-T only shows my out of pocket

I work for the university that I attend.  My total tuition was nearly $10K.  Most of that was covered by tuition benefits, but after $5250, it's taxed as income.  ~$4000 was reported as taxable income.  I think I should be able to claim that as part of my educational expenses, but the 1098-T that I received only shows my out of pocket costs which were $900.  Can I ask for this to be corrected or somehow note the additional so that I can get more deduction?

Yes, if you paid more than what is listed on your 1098-T, you can use the link under Box 1 on the 1098-T screen in TurboTax that says "What if this is not what I paid?" and enter the correct amount.

Be sure to keep a copy of your student account statement with your tax file to substantiate the correction.
