Question

My wife had graduate tuition waivers issued in 2018 (fully taxable). Should these be reflected on my 2018 W2 or my 2019 W2 (which is when the class ENDED). Thanks!

Her 1098T splits them correctly, my W2 only includes the lump sum from 2019. Shouldn't the graduate tuition box on the W2 be the same as the amounts reported on the 1098T?

Not necessarily; It depends on the circumstances. Please see IRS Publication 970 page 65 regarding Employer-Provided Educational Assistance that states that up to $5,250 can be excluded from your income per year. Educational assistance benefits not only include tuition but also books, supplies, and equipment. The excess would be added to the W-2.
