Question

Noah is a full time student. I pay his tuition and living expenses. He earned more than $4,200.00 in a summer internship. Why is turbo tax saying he is not a dependent?

There are two questions that can commonly cause this problem for student dependents. Go back through the interview in Personal Info for Noah and pay special attention to these two questions:

For the question How many months did Noah live with you? Be sure to mark the whole year. For dependent students who are temporarily away at school, the time away counts as time with you.

Also for the question Did he pay for most of is living expenses? be sure that the answer is NO since you paid for those expenses.
