Problem with Form 1098-T in Deluxe

I have a senior in college and have been reporting his Education expenses in TurboTax Deluxe for the past 3 years.  This year, Deluxe did not ask me to enter his Form 1098-T and listed tuition expenses of $0.  Likely I caught this because it would have reduced my refund by $2,500 for the missed American Opportunity Credit.  My son's information was uploaded from the previous year's tax return.  I had to delete him from the return and reenter his information to fix the problem.  This is year 4 he claimed the credit so is still eligible.  This identical problem happened to a friend of mine who also has education expenses.  He missed the mistake and paid $1,200 to the IRS instead of getting a $1,300 refund.

Thank you for the feedback; I will submit your concerns.  Just to clarify so we better understand the issue - Did you not go through the education expenses section in the Deductions & Credits section?  Or did you visit that section but did not get prompted to enter his 1098-T?

I did go through the education expense section in Deductions & Credits and did NOT get prompted to enter his 1098-T.

To enter, edit or delete Education Expenses -

    • Click on Federal Taxes (Personal using Home and Business)
    • Click on Deductions and Credits
    • Click on I'll choose what I work on (if shown)
    • Scroll down to Education
    • On Expenses and Scholarships (Form 1098-T), click on the start or update button

Or enter education expenses in the Search box located in the upper right of the program screen. Click on Jump to education expenses
