Question about 1098T and when I paid tuition

I paid for PART of my Spring 2019 graduate school tuition in December 2018, and then paid the remaining in Jan 2019. On my 2019 1098T, it only shows the amount paid was the Jan 2019 portion I paid. I looked back at my 2018 1098T and it looks like they put the Dec 2018 payment (for my Spring 2019 classes) into that 1098T. Box 7 is checked on the 2018 1098T form, showing that I paid for 2019 tuition in 2018. Can I edit the amount by clicking the "this is not what I paid to this school" and putting the fully 2019 tuition on there?

 

I did not file taxes for 2018 because I was not making money at the time.

    No. Unfortunately, you cannot include expenses paid in the prior year even when it was for the 2019 semester.
