I am claiming my daughter as a dependent and entered her 1098T, stating some of scholarship pays room and board. It states that my daughter has to then claim that amount as income on her taxes. She doesn’t file taxes because she doesn’t work. Is there a minimum $ amount of the scholarship that will require her to file a return? Does she only need to file if it is over a certain amount?

Yes.

If excess scholarship is her only income, she has to file her own tax return if it exceeds $14,600.
