Wages have been garnished for a few years for student loans and have never been offset before. Is loan still in default if I am garnished?

Basically, if wages are being garnished, that tells me that refunds have already been garnished in the past. So if you still have an outstanding balance on that debt, you can fully expect your refund will be taken for it too. But you can check it out for yourself by calling 800-304-3107 to confirm if there's an active refund offset or not.
