My son is a full time student, and I will claim as a dependent. He earned $11,600 working as an intern and part time. Does his earnings get reported in my return? Is he required to file his own return? When will this start for him, as his 2020 internship will pay him even more?

No, you don't report your son's income on your return.

If you son's income is reported on a W-2 he doesn't need to file if he made $12200 or less but he can file to receive a refund. However, if your son received a 1099-MISC he needs to file a return when the income is more than $400.
