I have a parent loan for a non-dependent child, is any part of that loan deductible?

If the child was your dependent at the time that you took out the loan you can deduct the interest that you paid.

You can deduct only the interest, not the full amount that you paid. You should have gotten a Form 1098-E showing the amount of interest that you paid.
