My Student Info Wk for my high school student for some reason had No checked off for Was this person a student during 2021? and it had box 2g checked off (for Not Applicable).  I have manually overridden, but where in the EasyStep do I go to get this corrected?

If you have already filed your tax return then you need to wait until after the IRS has completely processed your return and issued you your refund before you correct this.

If you have not filed yet then your high school student is still your dependent so make sure that te system is recognizing that and adjust anything that needs to be adjusted in order that your student is recognized as your dependent.

So I confirmed that in Personal Info and Info Wks that my high schooler is listed as a dependent.  The problem I am running into is that if I delete the 1098-T for her (we did not receive one since she did not incur any tuition expenses in high school), it automatically changes the Dependent Wks/Student Info Wk to a student status of "no" to was she a student in 2021 (question 1) and "not applicable"/box g to question 2, what kind of school she attended in 2021.  If I manually override question 1 to "yes" and question 2 to "high school", it adds my daughter back as a reference in the Expenses and Scholarships/Your Education Expenses Summary, but lists the school as blank and  status as "less than half-time".  If I edit that entry, I add the high school name and say no to receiving a 1098-T, it now lists the school name, but still shows as "less than half-time".  What's more, it adds a 1098-T form for her (even though I said "no" to getting one), which does say "no" for whether a 1098-T was received.  So I guess my question is what is the correct set-up for a high schooler (that did not take any college level classes). Is it "no" / "g-not applicable" to questions 1/2 in the Dependent Wk/Student info Wk, no form 1098-T and no listing in Expenses and Scholarships/Your Education Expenses Summary or is it "yes" / "high school" to questions 1/2 in the Dependent Wks/Student Info Wk, with a 1098-T form saying "no" to receiving a 1098-T and "less than half-time" status in the Expenses and Scholarships/Your Education Expenses Summary?  As an aside, we don't qualify for the EIC because our income was too high but I still want to make sure my dependent is accurately entered.

Go back to My Info and change the way you answered the question about your dependent being a student.  That question is generally for students who are past high school.   When you say yes to the question it takes you down the path to all kinds of questions about tuition, etc.   Just say No----it should eliminate all the aggravation you are getting with questions about 1098T's etc.
