Study Abroad

I lived in Arizona my whole life except for 4 months in 2023 to study abroad in another country. Would I need to make note of that on my taxes and would that consider my residency status to be marked “part-time resident”? I lived in Ireland for the first 4 months of the year only. I also did not work or make income while I was away.

    Q.  Would I need to make note of that on my taxes?

    A. No.

    Q. Would that consider my residency status to be marked “part-time resident”?

    A. No. You were still a full year resident of AZ.  Going to school, somewhere else,  is only considered a temporary absence from your home. Answer no when asked if you lived somewhere else during the year.

You didn't ask, but, for others reading this: In the case of determining dependency, you are considered as still living with your parents during this temporary absence.
