For education expenses, any costs to obtain your GED would not be a deduction because it's not considered to be higher education. Any qualified expenses, including a test, for a certification in a trade could be claimed. The TurboTax software will guide you to which credit you qualify for, but it will likely be the Tuition and Fees or Lifetime Learning credits. You can read about both below.
