Does the bug affect the reporting on Form 8863? Specifically, Line 27 and/or Line 30&31. I have TurboTax stating expenses are American Opportunity Credit - and another tax program stating it/s Lifetime.

What software are you using? The tax year that everyone is currently preparing is for 2022---the tax year that just ended on December 31, 2022. No one will prepare a 2023 tax return until next year when 2023 is over. Are you using old 2021 desktop software? Each tax year has its own forms and follows the tax laws for the specific year. You cannot update 2021 desktop software and use it for 2022. You need to be using 2022 tax software if you are preparing a 2022 tax return.
