Too many 1098's?

I refinanced my home on 12/28 and now I have 3 different 1098's 1 from my lender with the mortgage interest paid this year and 2 from the title co. 1 with points paid at closing, and 1 with what looks like 1 house payments worth of interest on principal and no points.  Do I enter all three of these individuals?  Am I supposed to have 3 1098's?

Yes, you can have multiple lender 1098's reporting interest, points or both. Enter them one at time in the Your Home section. To navigate to the section:

  • In your open return, select My Account
  • Tools
  • Topic Search
  • Type '1098' in the box, then select GO

You should land on the Mortgage deduction summary page if you have previously entered a 1098. If not, add your 1st 1098.

After entering your 1st 1098, select the 'Add a lender' button at the bottom of the summary page and repeat steps for the additional 1098 forms. If the same lender is listed on more than one form, differentiate somehow. Ex: Bankfirst and Bankfirst points.

See attached example.
